A reference to the anti-war novel of Erich Maria Remarque, a German author well known in Russia. Nano-protest is a form of protest that became widespread in Russia in 2017-2023. Anonymous artists create very small figurines of people and animals (often using characters from popular culture), give them protest signs, and place them in public places.
